# Session Start >*Having discovered the dagger and a mysterious encoded map, a terrible bell tolls, awakening the kettgrin, who attacks when he notices the party looking over the map with the dagger in hand! How will the octo posse overcome these evil feline fiend?!* # Session Summary - Session begins in the library, the bell dinging and waking up the cat creature in the room. The party did manage to dispatch the beast fairly quickly. Things that happened in combat: - X69 sleep fails, but he gets through with the dissolution (don't forget that the creature suffers disadvantage after this goes off). - Louis uses his hex ability (causing the cat to drop everything - which is nothing), dumps a bunch of damage, but is nearly killed when the Ketgrinn returns fire. - Louis **activates the mending ability on the ribbon**, but immediately after he is put down again by the Ketgrinn as it steals his voice. - Cletus learns that the ketgrinn is vulnerable to riddles, but ps ps ps ps's him to come near right before dagger shanking him multiple times. - Lazulia strikes with a nice eldrich blast, then whips out the eldrich kali sticks in each of her spidery legs (badass!). - Bimbap activates the fount, rages, and is alchemically juiced. He unloads a bunch of damage into the Ketgrinn. - Seraphine unloads a ton of damage with using the culling scythe/eldrich blast follow up. - Ember, after a failed phantasmal force to trick the kitty into believing that the dagger is just nearby it, gets the final kill while "kitty" rages in the background. She rips the whiskers out and shanks it with the dagger and it's extremely badass. - The party takes a short rest while Seraphine looks through the library, picking out a book on the monsters of the forest in Wickermoor, and learning the following clues: - There is a great creature in the woods (the horned king), and he seems to be tied to people going missing after venturing beyond the tree line. - This creature seems to be some kind of minion of a mysterious earth goddess who arises in times of need when nature is being threatened by societal greed/expansion. - These legends came to be before the era where knowledge was disseminated by way of books, so it is unclear how much of what we know is simply folk lore, and how much is actually supposed to be interpreted as fact. The beast in some stories manifests as a large but mundane forest creature, at other times he's depicted as a fantastic monstrosity. - There is said to be a great old tree that was once cut down but somehow still haunts those that venture close enough. - After additional searching, X69 finds 4 potions of healing and doles them out to some of the other party members. Louis consumes his immediately. - Next, the party makes there way to the nursery to find the screaming phantom of Arthur Lockwood. - Seraphine quickly delivers the blue bear to the screaming child, assuaging his terror, and preventing the stun effect at initiative 20 by rolling exceptionally well for initiative. - Using the pipes of haunting, Cleatus terrifies the animated stuffed animals into submission, where they cry themselves to sleep with their heads crammed into the covers in the crib. - Having explored much of the house, the proto-coven begins to sense the entrance to the attic, where Ember sees that there are outlines for a number of objects, some of which seem to match items that they have in their possession. They learn that the two missing items are a doll like thing, and another small item that is difficult to make out from the outline alone. - The ladies in the proto-coven articulate the nature of the rooms that have not been explored yet, at which point X69 realizes that the bedroom seems to have a doll like object. - X69 bee lines it to the bedroom, but not before the crooked man jumps out and reveals that he was crammed into the foundation of the house. - When they enter the room, a poltergeist doll with a child's voice asks them to search for monsters. - X69 uses Augury to great effect with the question about whether there is a monster in a place that has a wooden door. (yes). At this point it is a coin flip between the closet and the armoire. - X69 decides to chance it on the closet first, and when he opens the closet door the lurking monster reaches out at him!!!! - X69 already rolled to successfully notice the eye peering from the bag, so when combat ends that should play out without requiring a roll from him. - **X69 articulates that the next course of action should be to find the final item.**
